Welcome to Animal Adventures

An Extension of the Residential Coosa River Science School Program

Have you ever seen the powerful talons of a hawk or an owl?  Have you ever felt the smooth scales of a snake?

Well, the Animal Adventures program will bring these experiences to you!  Animal Adventures uses some of Alabama’s greatest educators—its wildlife—to create a hands-on learning experience for students.  With the help of various birds of prey, reptiles, and amphibians, students will learn about their natural neighbors’ adaptations and habitats.  Students will also gain greater appreciation for these valuable animals and better understand the importance of protecting them.

The following information will give you a brief overview of each of our programs.

Aligator

Herpetology

  • 20 - 25 student maximum (recommended for hands-on experience)

Journals

Our friendly, knowledgeable instructors will bring life to your classroom with a one-hour presentation of either birds of prey or reptiles and amphibians.  Pre- and post-event journals are available to educate and engage students in informative writing and hands-on activities.  Below you will find more information for each program and the journals.
